The project LIVING LAB: Constructing the Commons was realized by the TU Delft and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in the summer semester 2018 in cooperation with the IBA_Vienna. There was the question at the center of the discussions, the workshops and at the final exhibition: What significance do "commons" have in the city? Commons are defined as so-called common goods, which are available to all residents, such as public spaces.
Commons, in the sense of shared, maintained and enhanced resources, are essential to the future of the city. Architects, activists and planners therefore play an important role in the development and development of commons.
By using the example of the IBA area Sonnwendviertel, the present publication shows how the next generation of architects not only repositions themselves in terms of content, but also extends the scope of their own discipline.
The IKA, Institute for Art and Architecture, Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the IBA_Vienna 2022, International Building Exhibition – New Social Housing cordially invite you to the the Project.
