In 2019, the participants in the Regional Housing Conference jointly developed the future image "Step by Step to the Region 2040." This "image of the region" contains common goals, measures and implementation strategies for an attractive metropolitan region of the future. This is because important tasks for the future, such as housing shortages, overburdened transportation systems and pressure on the use of open spaces, can only be tackled together. Starting in 2022, additional digital knowledge transfer events and on-site workshops will be offered for the individual aspects of the vision of the future in order to provide a forum for cooperation in the region between conferences.

In addition, a best-practice platform is currently being developed in this context in order to make the projects and strategies that were developed in connection with the Regional Housing Conference also digitally accessible. Through these formats, the exchange and cooperation in the region - and also beyond the region - is to be intensified. Local approaches or projects can be publicized, supported and networked via the platform and/or the event format. The respective project leaders and initiatives can learn from each other with the help of these tools and are given the opportunity to break new ground through external impulses.
