This expert-led tour on your own bike takes you to selected passathon lighthouses and IBA projects in the center of Vienna. At each of the objects we will stop for about 10 minutes for short explanations, photos and short talks with representatives of the building owners.
We start our tour in front of the main station and drive to the adjacent Sonnwendviertel, where there are six social multi-storey residential buildings and building groups to see as klimaaktiv Gold buildings. We cross the railroad line via the bicycle bridge and take a look at the Sonnwendviertel and the Arsenal from above. We continue to the 3rd district, where in the Arsenal the exemplary renovated WIFO itself shows how economical the dramatic improvement of energy efficiency is.
Afterwards, the Eurogate district, the world's oldest passive house urban quarter, shows us that social housing can be among the pioneers in climate protection. A residential building for the homeless stands out on this tour for its exemplary social and climate responsibility as well as architectural aesthetics, as does the general renovation of the headquarters of the umbrella organization of social insurance carriers.
The tour will conclude with the Austrian Parliament, which will shine in its historical splendor and exemplary klimaaktiv gold at the end of the renovation.
