To neighborhood walk
Affordable apartments for young people - in keeping with this motto, the project was designed with a high proportion of compact apartments. The possibility of individual furnishing (kitchen variants, work corner, sleeping alcove) is nevertheless given. Furthermore, 6 shared flats for 3 - 6 young people each are offered. The "Verein Wiener Jugendzentren" (Viennese Youth Centre Association) could be won for the common room on the ground floor, which spans the entire building site. In order to make it easier for young people to start their own careers, rentable offices are planned as a fixed component of the house concept.
Two containers independent of the building, so-called possibility boxes, were also erected. These pop-up spaces represent a spatial addition. They sit at interfaces in the open space of the neighbourhood and are intended to serve as a place of encounter and participation in the neighbourhood. One container is designed as an office box and is used by the caretaker, while the other serves as a bicycle workshop in line with the mobility concept. The central space between the two structures is characterized by perennials and grasses as well as three gingko trees.
