The mix of creative forms of living and working opens up a diverse living space and activates the entire neighborhood through open, hospitable uses on the ground floor. Artists, architects, restaurateurs and other interdisciplinary and versatile residents put their long-standing professional cooperation into practice in a joint building project "Living on Factory Terrain" - LOFT as a creative factory. The synergies of use result in an agreed and lived self-image of work-life balance.
The architecture refers to the particular corner location in the district. At the intersection with the city, a publicly accessible loggia is offered as an urban and socio-spatial joint. The chosen construction method is sustainable: The exterior walls of all seven above-ground floors were built of monolithic bricks without full thermal insulation. Inside, the construction was implemented as a skeleton structure in line with the loft concept. The simple load-bearing structure allows long-term flexibility of the floor plans and different uses.
The interconnectedness of the building group with the neighborhood is defined by the ground floor uses with studios and the programming of a biological culture café as well as, above all, by the city loggia as a meeting and communication zone: in the forefront of the ground floor zone, a part of the property is made available to the public space and enables a threshold area between the house community and the Grätzel that is moderated, supervised and designed by the group.
