To neighborhood walk

The existing ÖJAB nursing home will be newly built and named "ÖJAB-Residence & Nursing Home Neumargareten" It will continue to offer professional, activating and loving care. Those who only need temporary support can make use of the house's short-term care. The residential and nursing care services are open to all people, regardless of their financial means.

The nursing home will have a green façade, photovoltaics and thermal component activation, which uses the building mass to regulate the temperature.

An innovative special feature will be the care oasis: a specially furnished residential unit in which people with severe cognitive and physical impairments will find a home that is optimal for their needs. It consists of four personal living areas, a common living room with terrace and garden access and a care support point with specially trained nursing staff. A music and lighting system enables sensory activation. Thanks to extra-large doors, residents can also participate in what is happening in the living room from their beds, if they so wish.

Many people from the neighborhood will like to visit the nursing home to take advantage of its attractive offers. These include the senior citizens' club, an attractive multifunctional room, hairdresser and chiropodist. A cafeteria allows for social gatherings or just a quick snack in between. The nursing home will thus become a place where people of all generations can meet.

Directly adjacent, the previous nursing home building will be used for childcare, intergenerational living, as a base for home nursing, for nursing training and for innovative social projects. In the immediate vicinity, the ÖJAB will offer young people and adults vocational orientation and training in the "Lebenscampus Wolfganggasse" and operate the student's and youth residence "ÖJAB-Haus Remise".

With 26 residential homes for more than 4,500 young and old people, the ÖJAB (Österreichische Jungarbeiterbewegung or Austrian Young Workers' Movement) is one of the largest non-profit residential care provider organisations in Austria and pursues progressive initiatives and developments in interdisciplinary long-term care. For almost five decades, the NGO has already been active in Vienna's Meidling district with social housing, care and education services.
