To neighborhood walk
The temporary student dormitory PopUp dorms in Seestadt is inexpensive, ecological and, above all, flexible. The pop-up dorms consist of 10 wooden boxes that can be completely prefabricated in the factory, including sanitary installations, ventilation and furniture, and assembled on site within a week. Each module achieves passive house quality, and there is also a photovoltaic system on the roof that supplies electricity.
Sustainability was emphasized in several respects: wooden construction, minimal consumption of resources during construction and operation, minimized construction site logistics, concept of reusability on different sites, as well as the multiple feasibility on temporary sites including residue-free deconstruction.
The PopUp dorms show that energy-efficient construction and socially affordable housing are in no way contradictory. The PopUp dorms are currently located north of the IBA neighborhood "Am Seebogen."
This tour, guided by experts on their own bikes, takes you to selected passathon lighthouses and IBA projects in the north of Vienna. At each of the objects, stops of about 10 minutes are planned for brief explanations, photos and short talks with representatives of the building owners.
