The project on Sechtemer Strasse marks the start of a new neighborhood that will become part of the new "Parkstadt Süd" district. The diverse public uses in combination with a colorful mix of apartments will create a lively neighborhood in a land-saving design.
read moreThe project on Sechtemer Strasse is also known as "The Cologne Family" because of its diverse uses. The planning builds on the cooperative participation process of Parkstadt Süd, the largest urban development project in Cologne. The development forms the central building block in the new neighborhood and combines important aspects for sustainable neighborhood development: The 15-story development creates an urban density in direct proximity to the large inner-city green belt.
In addition to publicly subsidized and privately financed apartments, commercial space for stores and offices and a large daycare center will be created here. The project also includes a 15-story high-rise building that marks the city entrance to the new neighborhood.
A wide variety of uses is planned: Apartments especially for students will be offered and supplemented by a large daycare center for childcare. Barrier-free living and wheelchair-accessible living are possible, and in the interior a children's playground and trees offer the opportunity to linger. A variety of stores and restaurants on the ground floor will provide amenities within walking distance, and the mobility concept is future-proof - with charging stations for electric vehicles and parking facilities for bicycles. On Sechtemer Strasse, it will be possible to see and experience on a small scale how Parkstadt Süd is being developed on a large scale.
