The "green and sustainable" concept of "Wien-Süd" is a milestone in green housing design and offers residents a particularly high quality of living. All apartments have private open spaces such as balconies, loggias or terraces with private gardens. When the spacious balcony troughs were first planted, residents were able to choose from a variety of options. The residents were informed about the greening possibilities of the troughs, automatic irrigation and urban gardening.
With the eighth residential building complex for Favoriten, the "Biotope City," Harry Glück (†) - the architectural doyen of social housing - worked tirelessly with initiative and construction until the age of 91. Together with Helga Fassbinder, who provided the ideas for the neighborhood, the residential building at Zelda-Kaplan-Weg 5 is the last project that was fundamentally designed by him.
In the residential complex there are two art installations of the "Wien-Süd" initiative "Kunst am Bau": on the one hand, the 11-story atrium was filled with life by a 33-meter-high light installation, and on the other hand at the southeast end of the area - with the participation of all developers - a dignified memorial for Harry Glück was designed.
