Kulturgarage

The "Kulturgarage" brings culture to the suburbs and offers space for a variety of cultural events for broad sections of the population at socially acceptable conditions in the basement area with the two-story event center: readings, exhibitions, concerts, film evenings, balls, lectures, celebrations, club evenings, etc.

Here, a central Viennese cultural building block is being created for the Urban Lakeside, the Danube City and the surrounding area. The excellent public connections are complemented by a collective garage for 537 car parking spaces with modern infrastructure for e-mobility and a bicycle rental station.

The competition-winning project by fasch&fuchs.architekten guarantees highest architectural quality with maximum functionality. The façade concept of the artists Hanna Schimek with the collaboration of Jakob Fuchs makes the entire building a "landmark-building" within the Urban Lakeside: the colors of the houses in the Stumpergasse in the sixth district were lifted onto the façade of the Kulturgarage. They now radiate from huge square color panels, marked with the respective house number. This is intended to reflect, as it were, an essential visual aspect of historically grown Vienna, on the facades of the Kulturgarage Aspern, which is located in the largest urban development project in Europe.

The event center embedded in a garage project becomes an attractive attraction for the entire neighborhood. This will create a place that sees itself as a creative production site in the neighborhood. The base zone including a concert hall for 500 people, stage, LED wall, music and lighting technology will be operated by the Wiener Volkshochschule.
