Seit 2017 laden das Architekturzentrum Wien und die IBA_Wien internationale Architekt*innen in einer gemeinsamen Veranstaltungsreihe nach Wien, die in ihren Projekten neue Wege gehen.
Das Berliner Büro Heide & von Beckerath ist bekannt für innovative gemeinschaftliche Wohnprojekte, wie das Haus für die Baugemeinschaft R50 (mit ifau und Jesko Fezer) oder das Integrative Bauprojekt am ehemaligen Blumengroßmarkt in Berlin-Kreuzberg (mit ifau). Gerade letzteres Projekt ist ein äußerst gelungenes Beispiel dafür, wie ein von Nachkriegswohnbauten geprägtes Viertel wie die Südliche Friedrichstadt durch eine in sich ausdifferenzierte Großform mit einer Nutzungsmischung aus Wohnen und Arbeiten nachverdichtet werden kann.
Das bewährte Format Vortrag und Respondenz fördert den Austausch von lokaler und internationaler Erfahrung und den mit dem Publikum. Dabei soll der Vortrag des Gastes zunächst auf die architektonische und städtebauliche Praxis in den internationalen Projekten eingehen. Der*die österreichische Respondent*in nimmt in Folge auf diesen Vortrag Bezug und setzt ihn in einen lokalen Kontext.

This time, IBA meets Architects features the architectural duo Flores & Prats. In 1924, the cooperative "Justícia i Pau" built a socio-cultural centre in Barcelona. From the 1980s, the building stood empty until it was given a new lease of life with the conversion by Flores & Prats.
