The desire to strengthen the neighborhood is a result of the residents' survey, which was implemented by the City of Vienna - Wiener Wohnen in the Per-Albin-Hansson-Siedlung Ost (PAHO) within the framework of the IBA_Vienna. Therefore, intergenerational participatory measures were increasingly implemented in the PAHO, which will be presented in the lecture and their mode of action will be illuminated.

ICH BRAUCHE PLATZ!

  
Ich brauche Platz! is an art and space research project that was carried out in several phases and at different locations. A public transport bus converted into a multifunctional space served as the "research base".

Home game in PAHO

  
Wiener Wohnen and SOS Kinderdorf Wien started the home game in PAHO in summer 2021: Together with sports teachers, parents and neighbours, space was created for girls and boys from 4 to 10 years old to play and do sports.

Redesign of building passageways

  
In Per-Albin-Hansson-Siedlung Ost there are several passageways through residential buildings. These are getting new wall designs, new lighting and handrails or are being artistically designed in workshops together with children and young people.

Multigenerational Square

  
A central place for lingering will be created here by a pavement open to infiltration, as well as a planted seating bay in different seating heights and a pergola.

BiB-Lab – Innovation Lab for Educational Spaces in Motion

  
In a three-year cooperation process, work is being done in the Per-Albin-Hansson-Siedlung, on new models of creative spaces for thinking, acting and designing, which have so far been lacking in the existing (educational) structures.
