Gemischte Stadt – Mischung: Possible! - Spielräume und Modelle für eine urbane Nutzungsmischung

Funktional gemischte, dichte Stadtquartiere gelten als der Idealtyp von Urbanität und zukunftsfähiger Stadtentwicklung. Dabei steht die funktionale Mischung selbst in Wechselwirkung zu gesellschaftlichen und sozialen Veränderungen; sie ist ein wandlungsfähiges Entwicklungsziel, das viel Interpretationsspielraum lässt: sowohl in der Theorie als auch in der Praxis.

Welches Maß und welche Art funktionaler Durchmischung ist innerhalb einzelner Gebäude anzustreben, welches auf Quartiers- oder Stadtteilebene? Wie kann im Wohnbau neben der Leistbarkeit des Wohnens auch die Leistbarkeit von Nicht-Wohnnutzungen sichergestellt werden? Was sind die baulichen Voraussetzungen für Nutzungsmischung, welche neuen Prozesse und Instrumente etwa im Bereich des Erdgeschoss- und Sockelzonen-Managements sind zu entwickeln? Inwiefern bedarf es einer Bewusstseinsbildung und einer Belebung von Kooperations- und Beteiligungsmodellen? Wieweit ist Durchmischung überhaupt planbar oder nur als Entwicklungsoption zu ermöglichen? Und welche Strategien sollen im Rahmen der IBA_Wien verfolgt werden?
